Study Medicine at ECOTEC

When you graduate, you earn the degree of Médico/Médica (Physician). The program is approved by the Council for Higher Education (CES) under resolution RPC-SO-06-No.086-2025, and your degree is registered with SENESCYT, so it is officially valid in Ecuador.
At which campus can I study Medicine?
Medicine is offered at the Samborondón Campus (Vía Samborondón, km 13.5). That is where you will attend classes, do your practical training, and receive admissions support.
What are the rotating internship and the rural health year?
The rotating internship is the year of pre-professional practice in which students rotate, under supervision, through hospital services such as internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, and gynecology. After graduating, physicians in Ecuador complete the rural health year at Ministry of Public Health facilities, usually in areas with less access to medical care.
What are the requirements to study Medicine at ECOTEC?
To begin Medicine, you need your identity document, your high school academic record, your endorsed high school diploma (título de bachiller refrendado), your voting certificate, and to have passed the University's Leveling Course. What is the difference between a general practitioner and a specialist?
A general practitioner provides comprehensive care for the most common health problems, focuses on prevention, and refers complex cases. A specialist, such as a cardiologist or pediatrician, completes a graduate program lasting several years after earning the undergraduate degree and registering it with SENESCYT. The Medicine program trains you as a general practitioner and gives you the foundation to choose a specialty later.
