Clinical Psychology

The Clinical Psychology program prepares well-rounded professionals capable of addressing the challenges of the profession in national and international contexts by managing the processes of mental health promotion, prevention, assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and rehabilitation. With strong theoretical and practical training, a humanistic perspective, and social responsibility, graduates will be able to foster mental health and well-being at the individual, family, and community levels.

Carry out processes of analysis and interpretation of information in diverse contexts, promoting the assessment of data to make well-founded judgments, while maintaining a reflective and respectful approach toward different viewpoints for the purpose of contributing effective solutions to complex problems.
Effectively lead work teams, assuming commitments that contribute to the improvement and development of an organization, promoting collaborative leadership to strengthen cohesion and achieve common objectives, with an ethical and responsible attitude in joint decision-making for conflict resolution.
Generate original ideas in diverse contexts, promoting the association of concepts and the identification of relationships among factors to address challenges innovatively, while maintaining an open and flexible attitude toward change with a critical approach to implementing original and creative solutions.
Develop a logical and structured sequence of research processes autonomously and creatively to generate new knowledge and apply and strengthen existing knowledge, collecting and analyzing data clearly and coherently, while maintaining a critical and ethical approach throughout all stages of the research process.
Analyze the scientific and theoretical knowledge of clinical psychology, distinguishing psychological and affective processes based on that knowledge and evaluating the practical validity of the application of approaches, in order to understand the epistemological principles of the science, properly formulate argumentative proposals, and foster an ethical and critical attitude toward current phenomena.
Use psychotherapeutic skills with a theoretical foundation and propose interventions based on the analysis of results obtained from the process, in order to develop diagnoses that lead to mental health prevention plans, fostering a responsible and humane attitude.
Apply psychological techniques and standardized psychotherapeutic instruments for psychological first response, with the capacity for rapid evaluation of risk behaviors, following institutional and legal protocols, in order to appropriately determine their functionality and propose mental health intervention plans based on objective results, fostering leadership and social and community responsibility.
Evaluate the patient comprehensively: identify the patient’s health conditions, recognizing medical and non-medical problems, analyzing decisions in high-pressure situations, and facing the challenge of combating disease in order to evaluate results in a disciplined manner, demonstrating responsibility and sound therapeutic judgment.
Design research projects using technology, developing and actively participating in research in the field of mental health, applying methodological approaches with scientific rigor, in order to propose solutions to current problems within the field of clinical psychology, fostering innovation, leadership, and confidentiality in accordance with the profession’s codes of ethics.
