Family, Women, Children, and Adolescents

The Code on Children and Adolescents is responsible for protecting, guaranteeing, and ensuring compliance with the rights of minors.

The Code on Children and Adolescents is responsible for protecting, guaranteeing, and monitoring both the exercise and the enforcement of children’s rights. Children and adolescents have rights from the moment of conception. It is the obligation of the State, society, and the family to ensure, by all means at their disposal, their survival and development.

The legal advice we provide in this area is consistent with the fundamental principles and rights enshrined in the Constitution of Ecuador, particularly the principle of the best interests of children and adolescents and the doctrine of comprehensive protection.

Domestic Violence

It refers to all acts of violence committed within the home by one family member against another.

Domestic violence encompasses all acts of violence committed within the home by one family member against another, which infringe upon the victim’s physical, psychological, social, and/or economic well-being, thereby hindering their personal development.

We are authorized to represent clients in domestic violence cases involving misdemeanors.

We provide consultation on all matters and offer free legal representation exclusively to employees with cases pending before the labor inspectorate (pending approval).

The month with the highest number of consultations was MAY, with a total of 198 consultations.

This monthly peak can be interpreted as an increase in demand for legal services, possibly associated with social, academic, or administrative factors specific to that period.

In 2024, a total of 304 cases were filed. The chart shows the number of cases filed in 2024 by type of proceeding. It shows that Family Law is the area with the highest volume of cases, followed by Divorce by Mutual Consent and Special Guardianship Proceedings.

During the period from January 2 to December 31, 2025, the Legal Clinic handled a total of 1,821 consultations. Of these, 682 were for men and 1,139 for women, indicating greater demand for the service among women.

Over the twelve months evaluated, a gradual increase in the number of consultations was observed, reaching its highest levels in October (214 consultations), August (195), September (192), and November (185), reflecting a significant increase in the number of visitors and use of the service during the second half of the year.

This shows that women accounted for a larger proportion of those seeking legal advice, representing nearly two-thirds of the total number of clients served during the period.

The months with the highest number of clients were October (214), August (195), September (192), and November (185).

In 2025, a total of 458 sponsorships were handled, significantly exceeding the 304 cases reported in 2024.

This represents an increase of 154 additional sponsorships, equivalent to an approximate growth of 50.7% compared to the previous year.

The most common cases were Food (277 cases) and Divorce by mutual agreement (109 cases), establishing themselves as the most in-demand matters at the Legal Clinic.
