ECOTEC University held a day full of symbolism and vocation with the Ceremony of Light: “Capping and Armband Ceremony,” an event that marks the beginning of a new stage in the education of its Nursing students.

The event, held on Friday, April 24, 2026, brought together academic authorities, faculty and family members, who joined 35 students from the Bachelor of Nursing program at this key moment in their journey. The ceremony marks the step toward the rotating internship, where future professionals begin to engage directly in the practice of their calling.

Capping, armbands and the Florence Nightingale Pledge

During the ceremony, faculty members officially presented the caps and armbands, traditional symbols of the profession, and each student received a lit candle, a gesture that evokes a commitment to care, ethics and service to the community.

One of the most meaningful moments was the taking of the Florence Nightingale Pledge, led by Dr. Leticia de Moral, President of the Board of Regents, followed by remarks from the university president, Dr. Joaquín Hernández Alvarado, who highlighted the responsibility students take on in this new stage of their education.

Academic recognition and well-rounded education

The ceremony was also an occasion to recognize academic effort. Student Allison Stephania Torres Betancourt addressed her classmates after being honored for earning the highest grade point average in her class, a reflection of dedication and excellence.

Family members and special guests were present for every moment, turning the day into a shared celebration of pride, emotion and commitment.

Formative experiences like this reflect ECOTEC‘s comprehensive approach, in which professional preparation goes hand in hand with values, vocation and social responsibility. Through its Global Employability campaign, the university fosters the development of professionals able to enter, adapt to and make an impact in different work environments, including highly demanding settings such as the healthcare sector.

Today, more than ever, ECOTEC invites its students to look beyond traditional borders, leading their professional path with ethics, commitment and a global vision focused on serving society.
