At our Samborondón Campus, the Networking Center was the ideal setting for the panel discussion “An Encounter with China,” an enriching event where we had the pleasure of welcoming the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Guayaquil, Gao Zhenting. During the day, which began with a tour of our facilities, authorities, faculty, students and special guests had the opportunity to learn about the history, traditions and politics of the Asian country, as well as its major advances in science and technology.
This initiative, led by our president, Dr. Joaquín Hernández Alvarado, reflects our vision of creating spaces that connect our students with new perspectives and realities beyond the classroom. In his remarks, he said: “In academia, we have the opportunity and the responsibility to strengthen these bridges and these encounters. Universities must be spaces where international relations translate into knowledge, research, cultural exchange and new opportunities for young people.”
An Encounter with China: cooperation and a message for young people
Over the past few decades, China has become a benchmark for economic and social transformation. Strengthening relations with Ecuador therefore opens new avenues for cooperation and mutual understanding. During a day that also brought together food, music and experiences shared by our own students, the diplomat delivered an inspiring message to young people: “I hope that, in the future, ECOTEC students can learn more about China and also have the opportunity to travel to the country and see it for themselves.”
