Study Law at ECOTEC
The Law program prepares professionals capable of identifying and analyzing legal situations, conducting research using technological tools, and designing models for solutions and social development based on ethical principles and justice. The program prepares future lawyers to advise, represent, and administer justice in national and international contexts.

When you graduate from Law, you will have developed these professional competencies.
Carry out processes of analysis and interpretation of information in diverse contexts, promoting the assessment of data to issue well-founded judgments, maintaining a reflective and respectful approach toward different positions in order to provide effective solutions to complex problems.
Effectively lead work teams, taking on commitments that contribute to the improvement and development of an organization, promoting collaborative leadership to strengthen cohesion and the achievement of common goals, with an ethical and responsible attitude in joint decision-making for conflict resolution.
Generate original ideas in diverse contexts, promoting the association of concepts and the identification of relationships between factors to address challenges in an innovative way, maintaining an open and flexible attitude toward change with a critical approach in the implementation of original and creative solutions.
Develop a logical and structured sequence of research processes autonomously and creatively, for the generation of new knowledge and the application and strengthening of existing knowledge, collecting and analyzing data clearly and coherently, maintaining a critical and ethical approach at every stage of the research process.
Use the different sources of law in a self-reflective manner, assuming a commitment to continuous research and a willingness to critically analyze legal systems, guided by values such as honesty, respect for the legal order, and social responsibility, ensuring that legal interpretations reflect principles of justice and transparency.

Where do Law professionals work?
A lawyer advises, represents, and defends individuals, companies, and institutions in legal matters, and may also administer justice or draft laws and regulations. Studying Law in Ecuador prepares you to analyze cases based on the Constitution and the law, argue in writing and orally, and use digital tools for litigation and legal advisory work, both in Guayaquil and in national and international settings.
Private practice
You advise and represent clients in civil, criminal, labor, family, or constitutional cases, from the initial strategy through the hearings and the enforcement of the judgment.
Corporate legal advisory
You work in a company's legal department or at a law firm, reviewing contracts, managing regulatory compliance, and preventing corporate, labor, or tax disputes.
Judiciary
After meeting the requirements and passing the competitive selection processes required by law, you can work as a judge, prosecutor, public defender, or court official within the justice system.
Public sector
You advise ministries, municipalities, and oversight agencies on public procurement, administrative procedures, and the drafting or review of regulations and bills.
Alternative dispute resolution
You take part in mediation, negotiation, and arbitration to resolve disputes without going to trial, seeking agreements that reduce time and costs for the parties.

You work at social organizations or international bodies defending fundamental and collective rights and the rights of nature, through strategic litigation, research, and advocacy.

What does a lawyer do?
They interpret and apply legal rules to solve legal problems. They may advise an individual or company before signing a contract, represent them in court, negotiate agreements, draft legal documents, or work within the justice system as a judge, prosecutor, or public defender. In every case, their main tool is clear, well-grounded argumentation.
How long is the Law program at ECOTEC?

What degree will I earn if I study Law?
When you graduate, you earn the degree of Abogado/a (Attorney at Law). The program is approved by the Council for Higher Education (CES) under resolution RPC-SO-06-No.084-2025, and your degree is registered with SENESCYT, so it is officially valid in Ecuador.
At which campus can I study Law?
You can study Law at the Samborondón campus (Vía Samborondón, Km 13.5), the Guayaquil campus (Av. Juan Tanca Marengo, Km 2.5), and the La Costa campus (Vía a la Costa, Km 16.5). Choose the campus closest to you: the curriculum is the same at each one.
What skills do I need to study Law in Ecuador?
You should enjoy reading, because you will frequently read laws, court rulings, and legal scholarship. You also need to write precisely, speak confidently in public, and analyze a problem from several angles. Memory helps, but it is more important to understand the reasoning behind the rules and to have a firm sense of ethics and justice.
What are the requirements to study Law at ECOTEC?
To begin your admission to Law, you need your identity document (national ID card or passport), your high school academic record or report card, and a recent photograph. An admissions advisor will confirm whether any additional documents are needed and will guide you through the entire process.
Can I practice law in court as soon as I graduate?
To represent clients in court in Ecuador, in addition to earning your degree, you must register it with SENESCYT and enroll in the Foro de Abogados (Bar Registry) of the Consejo de la Judicatura (Judiciary Council). Once you complete those steps, you can practice the profession. Many recent graduates start at law firms or legal departments to gain practical experience before handling cases on their own.
