In a firm commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, Universidad Ecotec held a successful awards ceremony for the “Ecotec Recycle Challenge”. This initiative, developed between November 12 and December 22, 2025, fostered strategic competition among the institution’s various faculties. Its primary objective was to mobilize the university community in a massive waste collection effort and to promote a culture of recycling within the campus.
During the ceremony, led by the Sustainability Directorate, the collective effort of students, faculty, and staff was recognized. The Faculty of Economic and Business Sciences emerged as the winner of the challenge, achieving an impressive collection of 129.50 kg of waste. Similarly, the participation of the Faculty of Law and Governance was highlighted; they secured second place with a total of 118.00 kg, demonstrating a high level of ecological commitment from these future professionals.
The event featured the participation of academic authorities and key figures from the environmental sector. Mgtr. Estefanía León, Administrative Vice-Rector, delivered the opening remarks, while Mgtr. Francesca Escala, Director of Sustainability, conducted the ceremony and the announcement of results. The occasion was supported by the presence of special guests, including Mgtr. Iván Vera Brito, Zonal Analyst of Environmental Quality; Mr. César Silva Albán, President of Fibras Nacionales Fibranac S.A.; and Mgtr. Adriana Lucas, Executive Director of ASEPLAS. Their presence ratified the importance of the alliance between academia and industry for the care of the planet.
